Where OMbiance can take you

Curated by the Yoga One teaching team — retreats we host, teachers we trust, and tools we actually use.

1

Annual Caribbean Retreat

Every February we trade the studio for a week of twice-daily flows, ocean swims, and family-style meals. Open to all levels — most attendees come solo and leave with a travel crew. Details are announced each fall in the studio and in our newsletter.

2

Packing Light, Practicing Heavy

Our famous one-bag yoga packing guide: the travel mat we recommend, how to fold a strap into every suitcase, and why a sarong beats a bolster at 60% of the luggage weight.

3

Practice Anywhere Sequences

Three short home-practice sequences — 20, 40, and 60 minutes — designed by our teachers for hotel rooms, airport corners, and beach decks. Ask at the front desk for the current printed card.

4

Friends of OMbiance

A directory of studios and teachers around the world who welcome Yoga One students with a friendly mat. Show your Yoga One key tag and say hello — from Miami to Melbourne.

5

Reading & Listening

The OMbiance shortlist: philosophy picks for long flights, meditation apps we use off-grid, and the studio playlist archive for your own practice soundtrack.

Ashrams in India

For those interested in a more spiritual yoga retreat, an ashram stay in India is the tradition everything else grows from. Our preferred partner Soul India Seattle curates these journeys, and this is the short version of their Ashrams in India guide.

1

What an ashram stay is really like

An ashram is a living spiritual community, not a resort. Days follow a simple rhythm — early morning meditation and satsang, asana and pranayama practice, karma yoga (selfless service), study of scripture, and simple vegetarian meals — usually in sacred settings like Rishikesh in the Himalayan foothills, or quiet coastal and backwater retreats in Kerala.

2

Choosing the right ashram

Lineage and teacher matter most. Look for a recognized guru or lineage, a clear daily schedule, and a program length that suits you — from a one-week immersion to a month-long stay. Reputable ashrams are transparent about costs or donations, expectations around silence and modest dress, and how much of the day is guided versus personal practice.

3

Preparing for the journey

Go with fewer expectations and an open mind: simple rooms, early mornings, and limited connectivity are part of the practice. Bring a travel mat, modest clothing, and a willingness to serve. A well-organized retreat partner handles the logistics — visas, transfers, and vetting — so you can focus on the inner work.
